Other information:

  • Peru accepts dollars but is very meticulous about them.  Ensure that any dollars you take over there are in pristine condition (most importantly no rips) and if any cash machine dispenses faulty dollars then go into the bank and ask for them to be changed
  • The Inca Trail must be booked months in advance and as of January 2013 costs approximately $545 dollars. There are cheaper, alternative treks that can be booked while there, such as the Lares Trek, Salkantay, Inca Jungle Trek
  • The most reputable bus company is Cruz Del Sur who offer wifi and decent meals on board. Tepsa’s also really good but the food portions are tiny.
